Tulsa Police are investigating after they say several gunshots were fired between people in two cars driving near the intersection of 21st and Yale. Police said a 19-year-old is in the hospital after being shot 10 times, including once in the neck.
Investigators said the victim was talking with police before being taken to the hospital. They said the incident started before 11:30 p.m. on Sunday night after a private event at Safari Joe’s.
Police described the scene as a rolling gun battle between two cars. They said it ended near the Whataburger across the street.
Investigators said the victim who was shot went to the restaurant and flagged down police. Tulsa Police said one of the people inside of the car with the victim had a gun and hid it behind a different restaurant but they were able to find it.
Police said nobody has been arrested yet. They said a large crowd gathering between Safari Joe’s and Whataburger made it difficult to do their job.
“There was approximately 100 people in the parking lot screaming, yelling, fighting with each other and interfering with officers’ ability to treat the victim and get EMSA and fire here to provide medical aid,” said Lt. Matt Arnold, Tulsa Police.
Investigators said the only description they have of the other car involved is that it is dark-colored. Anyone with additional information can call Crime Stoppers at (918) 596-COPS.
