We’re kicking off the work week with some pleasant weather by July standards!
Thanks to a cold front that moved through Green Country over the weekend, a bit drier air is in place today. That drier air gave us a nice cool-down this morning, and it’ll keep things feeling fairly comfortable during the day by summertime standards even as temps climb.
We’ll stay below normal today with highs in the mid-80s across Green Country and very light winds. It’ll be a terrific day to get outside, but obviously, keep the sunscreen handy with the UV Index in the very high to extreme category! A few isolated showers are still possible, but they’ll mostly be confined to extreme northeastern Oklahoma closer to the Missouri and Arkansas state lines.
Enjoy the brief cool-down today, because typical summertime weather will kick back in quickly. We’ll have 60s in most areas again early Tuesday morning, with a few scattered Tuesday showers possible. But with south winds returning, our highs Tuesday afternoon will climb back to the upper 80s to around 90 along with higher humidity. By Wednesday it’ll feel like typical July again, with muggy conditions both in the morning and afternoon hours and temperatures back to normal by July standards.
Some weak upper-level ridging will keep the toastier temperatures around through the week, with no more cold fronts showing up anytime soon. From mid to late week we’ll be back in the typical range of morning lows in the 70s and afternoon highs in the lower 90s, with higher heat index values. By the end of the week into the weekend that upper-level ridging looks to weaken somewhat, which would allow for daily pop-up thunderstorm chances to return.
I hope you have a great Monday, Green Country! Stay safe! You can also follow me on Twitter @StephenNehrenz as well as my Facebook page Meteorologist Stephen Nehrenz to stay up to date with the very latest.
