Deadline Approaching For Tenants To Move Out Of Vista Shadow Mountain

The deadline is approaching for tenants at Vista Shadow Mountain Apartment complex to move out after the Tulsa Fire Department says the conditions are so bad, no one should live there. 

The deadline is Wednesday, July 21. Carolyn Geltz moved out today says she never imagined she would be 60 years old and having to live out of a hotel room, she says the people who live at the complex feel hopeless and neglected. 

"I'm just terrified, I'm having a constant panic attack because I don't know where I'm going to live," she said. 

Geltz says she and her 19-year-old son have nowhere to go. She says she's getting frustrated because she's spent the last two weeks looking for a new place to live and can't find anything. 

"I have looked in four different towns including Tulsa for a place to live, and there's not one for rent sign anywhere," she said. 

Volunteers with groups like James Mission and Tulsa Housing Solutions are helping tenants as they move out, setting them up in hotels, and making sure they have applied for emergency rental assistance. 

"It's very important that people do that, so they can relieve themselves of all of the cost that our associated with this," James Reynolds said. 

James Reynolds with Landlord Tenant Resource Center says he's helped around 30 people the last two days, making sure they have all the help they can get. 

"That's really what we want to do, we want to connect, be the conduit of information really," he said. 

Geltz says she's devastated this has happened and is just praying she can find a place soon. 

"Essentially we're all homeless, and just living out of hotel rooms and suitcases, It's really hard on me at this age to go through that," she said. 

We did call Vista Shadow Mountain today about tenants moving out and they say they have no comment.
