Three people are in custody following a shooting at a Pryor car wash that left a man and boy injured.
“It’s just crazy,” said Scott Gable, a manager at the Indian Smoke Shop next door. “It’s a crazy world we live in.”
Gable told News On 6 employees stepped in to help after gunfire rang out around 1 o’clock at the Crystal Clean Car Wash near Highways 20 and 69.
“After the shooting, they went outside and saw what was going on and noticed the children running from the scene and scooped them up and brought them in the store and locked the door and secured it,” explained Gable.
Police did not say how many people total were involved in the shooting. As for what led to the gunfire, police said they believe it was a confrontation between people who knew each other and did not say who fired first or how many shots were fired.
Police took two men and a woman into custody.
“We’re familiar with all the adult parties involved,” said Cpl. Justin Allen. “We’re not really at a point to release names at this point because we’re still very early on in the investigation. Law enforcement is familiar with the subjects. They are familiar with each other. They are acquaintances.”
Rhonda Arfstrom told News On 6 she is the mother of one of the men taken into custody. She said her son and the man who was shot have been arguing in person and online for weeks.
“The outcome has never been good,” said Arfstrom. “So, I hope this outcome will be a lot better because I know my son, and I know he would never, ever deliberately shoot a child.”
Police said the man and boy, who is 7 or 8 years old, were responsive when they were taken to the hospital. Police also said there are no other suspects they’re looking for.
