Mayes County Family Says Delivery Driver Caught On Camera Taking Kitten

A five-year-old who lives in Mayes County is asking the person who took her kitten, to please bring her back. The family thought the kitten was stolen, but the Amazon driver said there is more to the story.

Starpower hasn't been with the Williams for very long, but little Adeline said that doesn't matter. Her kitty is family and family is forever.

The Williams family was shocked, to say the least.

"I was in Taco Bell, and I was like 'oh my gosh this lady took my kitten',” said Ashley Williams.

"My kitten,” said Adeline Williams.

“Yes, your kitten, sorry,” said Ashley Williams.

Ashley Williams said she couldn't believe what she was seeing Thursday afternoon outside her Locust Grove home.

"We looked for her for a good few hours and then finally my mom was like, ‘Well, I'll pull up the cameras,’” said Ashley Williams.

That's when they saw a woman in an Amazon delivery van pull up to their house, get out of her vehicle and try to pet the kitten who Williams' daughter Adeline named Starpower. The woman set down the package on the front porch before picking up Starpower and eventually taking her back to the van and driving off.

"I miss Starpower. I play with her," said Adeline Williams.

The Williams filed a report with the Mayes County Sheriff's Office. Today, News On 6 called Amazon and a spokesman told us the driver reported she saw a dead cat in the road and was worried the kitten didn't have a mother, so she took her. Amazon said the cat is safe and the company has contacted Williams about returning Starpower.

"Today she was like I bet Starpower's just going, ‘Meow meow meow. I want to go home,’" said Ashley Williams.

News On 6 spoke with Williams regarding what Amazon said happened. She said she's still skeptical because the video shows the kitten walking out from under their covered porch but said her daughter will just be happy to have Starpower back.
