A man who’s currently on probation for rape has been arrested, accused of stabbing a man to death overnight in Miami.
Miami Police say Travis Johnson stabbed the victim several times, then ran from the scene. Police say they found Travis Johnson hiding, a dozen blocks from where they say he stabbed Johnny Euran during a fight. Police were called to a home around 1 a.m. for the fight and found Euran laying in the yard, with serval stab wounds. A witness saw it happen so police quickly learned Johnson was their suspect.
Officers say they found Johnson six hours later at a house on the other side of town. They say Johnson isn’t from Miami and they don’t know why he was here or how he knew the victim. Chief Thomas Anderson says he is thankful they caught Johnson before he left town.
“Very fortunate. We have a great team up here in Miami, we have great community partners with all the outlying agencies, OSBI came in and sent their forensic team. We have a lot of great teamwork and it’s fortunate it worked out for us and we were able to protect the public and make sure he was arrested,” said Anderson.
Records show Johnson was released from prison in 2019 after serving seven years of a ten-year sentence for rape and molesting a child in Pittsburg county. Records also show an arrest warrant was issued for Johnson a couple of days ago for larceny, also in Pittsburg County.
