Tulsa City Council is expected to vote Wednesday on two different mask ordinances that could be implemented immediately if passed.

This mask vote is the one that was tabled last week when some of the councilors said they needed more time to make a decision.

There are two separate ordinances up for discussion at 10:30 a.m.

One would mandate wearing a mask in all indoor spaces for those ages four and up while the other is just a recommendation that people wear a mask indoors, but it would not be required.

The vote is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. after a time of public comment where anyone can sign up to speak.

There is a protest scheduled at 4 p.m. in front of City Hall against any sort of mask recommendation or requirement. The group says their official message is “hands off my freedom” and they want to be heard.

If the mandate were to pass, Tulsa could become one of the first cities in Oklahoma to officially reinstate a mask mandate since the spring when most city mandates expired.
