Friends and family of a man who was murdered this weekend honored his life Monday night in Tulsa with prayers and a balloon release.
Those close to Donnie Williams are struggling with the loss after he was found dead Sunday morning. Police believe he was killed some time the night before.
Williams and his wife, Keyona Rountree, knew each other for 18 years. Monday would have been his 39th birthday.
“He was a good man. He didn’t deserve this," Rountree said. “That was my best friend, and somebody took him from me.”
Rountree and Donnie's mom and dad, Carmen and Jerry Anderson, gathered where he worked near 54th and North Peoria to hold one another and celebrate Donnie's life with the people who loved him.
“We’re just going to have to hold each other tight. Look after his little ones. That’s what he’d want us to do,” Jerry said.
Donnie leaves behind five kids. Rountree said she's trying to stay strong for them.
“I don’t know what’s next, I don’t know what to do. I got to be there for my kids but who’s going to be there for me? That was my best friend. I don’t know what’s next,” Rountree said.
