A new Homeland grocery store will open it’s doors Wednesday in a neighborhood that’s been considered a “food desert” since the last major grocery store closed in 2019.

The 30,000 square feet supermarket will provide fresh grocery options for citizens in the northeast Oklahoma City area.

Along with being a full service supermarket, it will feature grab-and-go foods, a bakery, deli and pharmacy drive-thru.

Homeland has a goal of hiring 80 people to fill open positions.

Homeland will also offer the first-ever Double Up Oklahoma Program at this store, allowing snap recipients to use up to $20 of their benefits and receive $20 fresh produce coupons.

"We have poured our hearts into this, and we hope the community can come out and enjoy," said Homeland's CEO Marc Jones."

This Sunday, they will have an event called "First Sunday," where they will have local organizations, music, food trucks, and free samples for the public to enjoy.
