The Muskogee County Sheriff's Office is asking for prayers for one of its deputies who is hospitalized for COVI-19. Muskogee Patrol Lieutenant Skylar Green is fighting for his life after being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia.
"I had to call an ambulance because his oxygen was at 65 and we couldn't get it up," Skylar's wife, Aariel Green, recalled.
Aariel and Deputy Bridgette Jackson say Skylar's critical case is a first for the sheriff's office. Skylar went to a Tulsa hospital -- where he's been slowly recovering for the last three weeks.
"It hits home because he is one of us, we go out every day doing the same thing -- you just never know when it's going to happen or who has it," Jackson told News on 6.
Aariel says doctors think Skylar contracted COVID on patrol. She says what's helped her get through -- are all the prayers and support from Muskogee and across the state and even the country.
Jackson and other deputies made these $5 bracelets to raise money for the family. Jackson says they've sold 400 bracelets since they started selling them yesterday.
"It has Muskogee County Sheriff on one side and on the other side it says 'we got your sixth.' We thought we sell them to try and earn some money for gas and hotel stays, and way to help somehow," Jackson explained.
The Sheriff's Office will hold a prayer vigil at the Civic Center tomorrow at 7 p.m. Aariel says her husband needs prayers now more than ever -- so he can come home to her and her son.
"He has done leaps and bounds in terms of fighting -- so I think he will," Aariel said.
Aariel says if her husband continues to recover, he will be moved out of isolation on Saturday. You can make a cash donation or buy a bracelet by messaging the Muskogee County Sherrif's Office's Facebook Page
