Thousands of people are expected to attend the 13th Annual Rocklahoma Music Festival in Pryor this weekend that is back for the first time in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Director of Marketing Steven Rohall said he can’t believe they are able to be back to throw a festival in person.

“It’s a little surreal, we are very excited, we are excited, the bands are excited,” Rohall said. “Driving around the campgrounds, it’s nice to see a bit of normalcy, of people grilling and playing cornhole and then coming in and having a good time. Obviously if you love rock music, this is where you want to be.”

Rocklahoma was canceled last year due to COVID-19. This year, organizers are encouraging those attending to get vaccinated, get COVID tested, and wear a mask, although it is not required.

Rohall said the rock community hasn’t skipped a beat, even though they missed last year. Organizers say Rocklahoma is bigger than ever this year with 20,000 people a day expected to attend the festival and close to fifty artists are in the lineup.

Festival goer Darrell Southerland said he is thrilled to go to the concerts with the friends he made and kept from years ago.

“I like Rob Zombie, I was wanting to see Limp Biscuit, but Hailstorm is very good, I love Pop Evil,” Southerland said.

Sutherland said he wouldn’t miss this weekend for anything.

“They have had some really good bands in the past,” Southerland said. “It’s a really good time, you just forget about everything and it’s hard to explain, it's just a really good feeling."

Rohall said there is nothing quite like the dedicated fans of Rocklahoma.

“People have met one year and gotten married on-site the next, then brought their kids back a few years later to grow up around Rocklahoma,” Rohall said.

The higher level VIP passes are sold out but general admission tickets are still available on the website as of Friday morning.

Those tickets can be found by clicking here.

All outside food and drinks are allowed in the campsite portion of the venue but neither can be brought into the stage locations. All items brought into the event must be in a clear bag only.
