A few storms will remain possible for the next few hours across the northern half of the state as a weak outflow boundary moves southeast before becoming diffuse. The better location for a few storms should remain across far NE OK and NW Arkansas, but it’s possible for a few showers or storms to develop across the northern sections this morning. The chance, however, will remain quite low. The additional clouds in the mix should keep the highs down a degree or two but not much. Afternoon highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s will remain likely with northeast winds from 10 to 15 mph. As long as the weak outflow remains intact through the afternoon, a stray or isolated storm is possible this afternoon. Again, low chances. Winds will return from the south late tonight and continue Thursday through the weekend with a gradual increase in speeds and lower-level moisture. Afternoon highs into the weekend will reach the lower to mid-90s with morning lows Friday through the weekend in the upper 60s and lower 70s. As mid-level ridging will remain the dominant feature, some data suggest a weak trough will develop across southeastern OK and northeast TX Friday and could spark off a few showers or storms across extreme southeastern OK Friday into the weekend during the max heating periods. I’ll not include these very low pops on the 7-day planner as most of this activity should be confined to far eastern sections.
This weekend, a minor heat index will be in the equation with some values nearing 100 by Saturday afternoon. The above normal weather will remain through early next week before a fall-like front attempts to move into the state either Tuesday night or early Wednesday with a round of thunderstorms and a reduction in temp for a day or so. This front will bring a nice preview of fall temps, but I’ll stress that warmer weather should return for the end of next week before the next front is scheduled to appear. Temps Mon and Tue will be in the upper 80s to 90s for highs. As the front moves across the area with thunderstorms Tuesday night or Wednesday morning, north winds will advance some cooler weather. Currently, we’re remaining conservative with Wednesday morning lows in the mid-60s and afternoon highs in the mid-70s. Next Thursday morning could feature some lows in the lower 50s with highs moving back into the upper 70s to lower 80s.
Thanks for reading the Wednesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
