On Friday, Tulsa Public Schools and Supermercados Morelos are partnering up to help the Hispanic community.

As part of the City of Tulsa's Welcome Week, Morelos and TPS are teaming up to help immigrant families feel more included.

Yobana Ruiz, The Marketing Manager for Supermercados Morelos, said through this partnership, she hopes they can get more Hispanic students to graduate.

According to TPS, more than 37% of the student body speaks a language other than English at home.

Ruiz was raised in Tulsa and says she sees herself in these immigrant kids.

She says if they can make Tulsa feel as much like home as where they're from originally, it'll be a step in the right direction.

"I think that encouragement is the biggest thing here," Ruiz said. "Letting these students know, 'Hey we see you. We see the effort that you're putting into school. We see the effort that you're making trying to succeed.'"

Supermercados Morelos and TPS will officially announce the partnership at 2 p.m. on Friday.
