Some Green Country pumpkin patches are opening up this week, just in time for the start of fall.

Shepard's Cross in Claremore said it saw quite a few people for its first day.

"We were so grateful that it was cool this morning,” said Shepherd’s Cross Owner Diane Dickinson. “It felt so much like fall and people are ready to get out and get back to normal."

Dickinson said they moved to the farm in Claremore in 1991 and 30 years later, they're continuing to welcome families to Shepherd's Cross Pumpkin Patch.

They have tractor rides, a petting zoo, an indoor shop, a hay bale maze and plenty of fun for the whole family.

“We have pumpkins growing on the vine, as well as flowers in the prayer garden if you want to take your picture there and tables for a picnic lunch," said Dickinson. "We are ready for fall. There's an excitement in the air."

It’s attracting visitors from all over Green Country like Alivia and her mom.

"Me and my mom like the ones that are all warty because they look super cool!" said fifth-grader Alivia.

Alivia said she and her mom pick out pumpkins together every year to carve for Halloween. She said she loves visiting the pumpkin patch with her mom.

"We get to spend quality time and she's really fun to be with. She's the best mom ever!” said Alivia.

Dickinson said though many families leave with wagons and trunks full of pumpkins, she hopes they leave with a little more peace in their hearts than when they came.

"That's the number one thing we want people to receive right now. In this war-torn world that we are living in, our hearts are frayed, and we just need to have some hope and some peace,” said Dickinson.

Shepherd's Cross, at 16792 East 450 Road in Claremore, is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from now until November 6.

They said all proceeds benefit Mission Outreach Local and International. Click here for more information.
