A man on a motorcycle is badly hurt and police said it’s because a 16-year-old got mad when he couldn't merge onto the highway.

Tulsa police said a teenager got mad after another driver wouldn't let him merge, so he was speeding down the road, when he hit the motorcyclist: an innocent victim just caught in the middle of it.

"It's just not worth it, the road rage, this is how it ends," said Tulsa Police Sgt. Brian Collum.

Collum said road rage caused a lot of damage, including a wrecked car and motorcycle, and injured an innocent man.

Collum said a woman driving north on Highway 169 tried to exit at 71st, but a 16-year-old driving a white car was getting on the highway at 81st and forced her to swerve to avoid hitting him.

Police say that teenage boy was not happy she wouldn't let him over.

"He got upset and threw a water bottle at her car," said Collum. "She went behind him to write his tag number down."

Collum said that teenager sped up and got off at 61st, driving down the center lane, and crashed into a motorcycle rider trying to turn left.

"He had nothing to do with the road rage incident, and he's going to the hospital," said Collum.

Collum said they're seeing more and more road rage crashes that are unnecessary, and people really need to think before they react.

"Bite your lip, count to ten, we're getting these calls more and more, these road rage calls," Collum said. "As you can see, the end results: not good.”

Police said that teenager will get several tickets, including for reckless driving. The motorcyclist is expected to live.
