For the second time this season, Oklahoma State’s Malcolm Rodriguez is the Big 12 defensive player of the week.
The former Wagoner standout had seven tackles and recovered a fumble for a touchdown in the Cowboys’ 31-20 win over Kansas State, a victory that had a special celebration.
The Cowboys are 4-0, into the AP Poll for the first time at #19 this week, yet head coach Mike Gundy said he’s still not quite sure how good this squad is.
“I always say this about the middle of October, I kind of know who we are, where we’re at. And I’d say that’s probably true this year,” Gundy said.
While it’s still early in the season, there’s always time for a little post-game victory celebration, this one led by offensive line coach Charlie Dickey’s son, Charlie Jr.
“Obviously he had seen me dance, because I didn’t tell him to dance,” Gundy said. “Now he went with a cartwheel first, which was a good move, got everybody’s attention, but then see, it’s funny, he knew what was going on and he knew what was supposed to happen. Nobody told him that so that’s pretty cool.”
A top 25 battle awaits the Cowboys as Baylor, also unbeaten, comes to Stillwater Saturday night.
