Another summerlike day is expected with highs mostly in the lower 90s near the metro with a few upper 80s across the far eastern sections. South to southeast winds will remain at 10 to 18 mph with increasing clouds by midday to afternoon ahead of a storm system that brings some scattered storm chances back to the state. Another wave nears by the end of the week with a continued mention for some much-needed rainfall.
The first wave of energy will arrive later today across the western third of the state as the southwestern U.S. cutoff low begins lifting northeast and weakens. This will bring scattered storms across the western third of the state this afternoon with a few of these nearing eastern Ok late tonight into early Wednesday morning. During the day Wednesday, as the main low begins to open and move into the central plains, some scattered storms will remain possible for some, but not all locations. High temps today will reach the lower 90s in the metro but should drop a few more degrees Wednesday with additional clouds and some localized influence. As the first wave ejects north, a 2nd system will drop from the pacific northwest into the intermountain region Thursday and Friday with some additional energy positioned across the base of the trough across west TX into western OK. The positioning of the 2nd wave combined with increasing low-level moisture should result in better chances for storms over a larger area Thursday and Friday before slowly thinning out some Friday evening into part of the weekend. We currently have some lower chances Saturday compared to some of the ensemble data and may bring these pops up slightly in subsequent forecast updates for Saturday.
Temps will be slowly dropping down into the lower 80s or upper 70s for the 2nd half of the week with morning lows mostly in the mid to upper 60s. A cold front will move across the northeastern OK region late Saturday evening into early Sunday with north winds and some pleasant fall weather Sunday into Monday. This should drop the lows in the mid to upper 50s Monday morning with daytime highs in the upper 70s. While this will be a welcome change from the summerlike conditions of the past week, no major fall fronts appear on the timeline at this point for the state.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
