TU boasts the fourth-ranked soccer team in the country and Wednesday night they hosted #6 SMU in a thrilling top-ten matchup.

Heading into the game, the Golden Hurricane was undefeated on the year, 7-0. Wednesday night, they made it 8-0.

The Mustangs took an early lead with a goal in the 16th minute, but late in the second half, it was TU’s Alex Meinhard with the equalizer in the back of the net.

With 15 seconds left in double overtime, Meinhard again knocks in a ball bouncing in the box to score his second of the night. TU wins it by golden goal, 2-1.

Before the game, Tulsa Head Coach Tim McIntosh said this match is not only great for his team, but also the city.

"I think it’s great for the soccer community, you know Tulsa is a big youth soccer town and to be able to have that type of game in Tulsa, it’s exciting for the community, as well as our players,” McIntosh said.

The matchup proved to be an exciting overtime thriller as TU moves to 8-0 on the season.
