Nightlife is coming back to Black Wall Street.
A nightclub, also known as a 'speakeasy', is under construction in the historic Greenwood District.
Devin Williams, owner of DW Speakeasy, said this is something Tulsa has never seen before.
Williams said after the Greenwood business district was designated a national historic place -- he wanted to play on that. So, he's creating a speakeasy that will reflect the nightlife of the 1920s era.
Williams said DW Speakeasy will highlight culture and community, bring in local artists and create job opportunities.
The space will be available for anyone wanting to host events, meetings, and filming opportunities on Black Wall Street.
It will be located next to the Driller's ballpark entrance on Greenwood.
Williams said he hopes this will unite the community in a new way.
"We wanted to create a place that's higher-end that allows, you know, the community to kind of come together in a different way than we're used to," said Williams.
The Grand Opening is expected to take place later in 2021.
