Booker T. Washington travels to Sand Springs Friday looking to stop the Sandites’ undefeated season in our Tulsa Tech Game of the Week.

The Hornets are loaded with division one talent. Cornerback Jaden King has been a lockdown defender and already has a pair of college offers, but what he is doing off the field might surprise you.

The game of football has always come natural for King. The senior has one interception, 12 tackles, and four passes deflected this season.

"He has been playing some outstanding ball and we need his leadership to continue to do well," said, Booker T. Washington Head Coach Jonathan Brown.

Playing his position, you have to have patience and understand that you will get beat from time to time.  That has helped him out in his other sport: golf.

"Just eye coordination, just catch the ball and just stay relaxed through tough times, just go play," said King.

He does plenty of playing. He’s carding a 75 most days on the links and Brown is taking notice.

"Yeah, I call him young Tiger Woods. He is still running from me, right now I've been trying to challenge him in our off days, Saturdays and Sundays," said Brown.

The two sports have intertwined for King and have ultimately made him a better athlete.

"You shank one, you can't think about that. You have to let it go and that’s kind of how he has been doing for the last two years,” Brown said. “The kid has been playing some heck of ball.”

"Actually, supposed to play golf later this year after the season,” King said. “We will see how that goes.”

Booker T. Washington faces Sand Springs Friday night.
