Each day at the Tulsa State Fair, lumberjacks show off logging skills in a competition that anyone can watch.
At the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show, you could see things like log rolling, axe-throwing, and chainsaws. The show happens every afternoon and evening at the fair, and three lumberjacks showcase their skills.
Lee LeCaptain is the owner of the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show. He said there's 45 lumberjacks who travel coast to coast and to five continents.
Brothers Jason and Daniel showed us how it's done Thursday.
LeCaptain said for the axe throwing, the handle is 28 inches long and the axe heads weigh between two and a half to three and a half pounds. They can throw the ax to this bullseye from 20 feet away.
He said log rolling skills take a long time to learn and a lot of practice.
Plus, in just one minute, LeCaptain carved out a wooden chair with a saw.
"The greatest thing about what we do is we give people about a half an hour of time that they forget about all their problems. Of course, today in the world we got all different kinds of things going on, but when you get here, it's gone. You're going to laugh, you're going to be amazed, you're going to be thrilled,” LeCaptain said.
The show is free at the fair and open each day at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
