Members of Sequoya Creek Church in Broken Arrow are spending their fall breaking helping others.
Jason Ford dropped off baseboards, floorboards, and other big items of trash at the church during the free dumpster drop off.
“Well, we could save some money, pull the baseboards ourselves and I started looking at dumpsters and was like well it’s going to cost a lot for dumpsters. So we saw this as an opportunity," said Ford.
He heard about the free drop off at Sequoya Creek Church and estimated he's saving around $500 by dropping off trash at their dumpster.
Chase Cheatwood is the church's mission pastor and said it's a bit unusual, but when there's a need to be filled, his church is ready.
“You can come up here and just throw away all of your trash all of your unwanted stuff. There is a lot of people around here that have a need of needing to throw away stuff so we just want to serve people in that way," said Cheatwood.
He said Thursday's free dumpster day is kicking off the church's fall break ministry weekend.
“We have coats tomorrow. So we’ll have dumpsters and coats and Saturday is our big day where we have dumpsters, coats, and food," said Cheatwood. He said that's all happening in the mornings from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. and they'll have vacation bible school in the evenings.
Ford plans to be back before the ministry weekend ends.
“We’re doing a lot of demoing on a house and just wanted to bring some stuff out here and it’s an awesome outreach program because it’s hard to find places to dump things," said Ford.
There is still time to sign up for vacation bible school, click here.
