State leaders will break ground on the new Veteran's Hospital in Downtown Tulsa.

The $120-million facility will allow thousands of veterans to get much faster care easier.

The project was federally approved by Congress and signed into back in January.

The hospital will be located at the OSU Medical Center Campus.

The existing Kerr-Edmondson building on campus will be converted into a 275,000 square foot facility.

Veterans from the Tulsa metro have had to go to Muskogee to receive treatment, so this hospital is estimated to help more than 30,000 veterans get the care they need.

The opening ceremony is expected to start at 10 a.m. on Friday morning and wrap with a fly-over by the Tulsa Warbirds around 11:15 a.m.

Construction on the new VA hospital will take a while to complete.

It is scheduled to finish in late 2023 and open in 2024.
