People 65 and older will soon have a new option for healthcare in Tulsa.
A new provider is opening in Oklahoma and said it wants to help seniors in underserved areas.
Archwell Health said the healthcare model they use has been in Florida for about 10 to 15 years, but is now becoming popular across the country. They say there is a need for more senior health options.
About 63 million Americans receive Medicare, with more than 10,000 Baby Boomers becoming eligible every day. Because of that growing need, more healthcare providers have opened up nationwide focusing on seniors.
On Friday, Archwell opening a location at 31st and Garnett, an area it said has a need with a lot of Medicare recipients and an older population.
This clinic will accept Medicare part C and operate as kind of a one-stop shop for many senior health needs, including a full lab.
Dr. Joshua Lowe said their focus will only be on seniors at a central location with a community meeting place type of feel.
"This is a specialty type place,” said Lowe. “In Florida this model is more abundant."
"It’s convenient,” said Nikki Christian, a nurse at the facility. “Nobody wants to go to one doctor and then have to go to another doctor and another doctor to take care of their things when they can come to one clinic and take care of their cardiology, endocrine different issues."
They're having a grand opening at 11 a.m. on Friday morning and people can sign up then as well.
