Demolition crews are in the process of knocking down the original decades-old building that once served as the original gaming hall on the River Spirit Casino complex along Riverside Drive. The building has served as administrative offices in recent years but will eventually be turned into more parking spots.
At one time, the building was home to MegaBingo, which was the first high-stakes bingo game offering players the chance to win one million dollars. People not in attendance played MegaBingo all across the country with the help of live satellites.
With the success of high-stakes bingo, the building eventually turned into the original Muscogee Nation Casino in Tulsa until the River Spirit opened many years later. In recent years, the building has served as a warehouse and office for casino personnel.
The plan is to eventually convert the area into more parking.
“We started demo this week, and the last couple of weeks we’ve had people come over and do photoshoots,” said Pat Crofts, CEO of Muscogee Creek Nation Casinos. “It’s very sentimental to a lot of our long-time employees.”
Construction on a new administration building on the north side of the campus is still on schedule to be completed in December.
