Dozens gathered Wednesday night to remember a Tulsa business owner who died after trying to break up a fight.
It happened around 3 a.m. on Oct. 24 in the parking lot of Miami Nights Restaurant and Lounge near 21st and Sheridan.
News On 6 was there as family, friends, current and former employees and supporters lit candles, prayed and shared how much Frank Valdes meant to them.
The 56-year-old leaves behind a wife, children, including triplets, stepchildren, grandchildren and countless friends.
Valdes' family told News On 6 he moved from Cuba to Miami in the 1980s and then Tulsa to work in aviation.
He eventually opened Miami Nights to share his passion of tropical music and cuisine.
Family friend, Jayson Mendez, said the gathering reflects the impact Valdes made on this community.
"Different type of music, dancing, tropical,” said Mendez. “He wanted to bring Miami, Florida, to Tulsa, Oklahoma. It means a lot actually. This is the most beautiful thing I've seen, man. He had a lot of love."
Valdes’ funeral will be in Miami this weekend.

Police arrested Ramon Garcia-Ibarra, who they say is one of the two people who assaulted Valdes.
Officers also arrested Jose Ledesma-Hernandez and said he tried to run a security guard over during the fight.
Investigators are looking for a third man, who was involved in the attack.
