Tulsans now have help after attending a resource fair today.
The 'Sowing Hope' resource fair is all about connecting justice-involved families with community resources
"We want people to understand that there is hope, and there's also resources. And we want to break barriers for people with justice involvement," D'Marria Monday said.
D'Marria Monday, the event organizer and founder of Block Builderz, said Saturday comes after listening to the community say they just didn't know their options, especially after being incarcerated.
She said that's created a revolving door.
"But let's also talk about breaking generational curses. We have generations that have faced incarceration," said Monday.
And those people continue to face challenges when integrating back into society.
"You have different doors shut in your face, you have, it's hard to find a job, it's hard to find housing, and it's easy to get discouraged," said Monday.
She said that's why today's 3rd Annual Sowing Hope Resource Fair is so important.
It's about educating the community of their options -- and ending a terrible cycle.
"Sometimes you just need help and you don't know where to get that help," said Sherry Johnson.
Sherry Johnson said after she left prison it was hard.
She said had to advocate for her own education.
But she wants people to know that there's resources, now more than ever, for anyone who needs them.
"We have a list of people of people just out here so we can get the education out here to the right people," said Johnson.
All you have to do...is just believe.
"There's hope and we can offer you a hand up," said Monday.
