Fallen Tulsa Police Sgt. Craig Johnson will have a portion of U.S. Highway 169 named after him.
On Monday, Senate Bill 624 officially turned a stretch of Highway 169 into the Sgt. Craig Johnson Memorial Highway, and today family and friends can honor Sgt. Johnson for his sacrifice.
There will be signs for the newly named highway on the east side of Highway 169 just south of East 81st Street. There will also be signage on the west side of US 169, just north of the East 51st street interchange.
Sgt. Johnson was shot and killed during a traffic stop back in June of 2020.
Tulsa Police Chief Wendall Franklin, State representative Carol Bush and Sgt. Johnson's family are all expected to make an appearance at Wednesday's dedication ceremony.
It will all be held at the Mingo Valley Division Community room off East 11th street in Tulsa.
After the ceremony, there will be a procession of TPD units to honor Sgt. Johnson.
The ceremony is expected to begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
