A surface front is located well south of the area with the next upper-level system nearing the plains states this evening and exiting the area Wednesday midday to afternoon. As this system nears the state, increasing rain and shower chances will occur with rain becoming more likely later tonight before ending Wednesday midday. No severe weather will occur. Instability is low and thunder chances will also remain limited, mostly to our south along the Red River Valley and north TX. The temperature today will remain cool with highs topping out in the upper 40s or lower 50s along with overcast skies and northeast winds near 10 to 15 mph. The metro range is expected to be small with lows this morning in the lower 40s and highs this afternoon near 50.
This same limited range of temps will be likely Wednesday for most of northeastern OK with slightly higher readings possible along the Red River Valley. As the upper-level wave passes the area tomorrow afternoon and evening, clouds will vacate the region from the west to east Thursday as a mid-level ridge of high pressure settles over northeastern OK allowing for chilly weather late Wednesday evening into Thursday morning with some locations dropping into the upper 30s with a patchy frost possible in some valleys. Sunshine and southerly winds are expected to return Friday which should signal a gradual warming trend for the weekend. Temps early Friday morning will drop to near or slightly below freezing across northeastern OK and northwestern Arkansas with Friday afternoon highs reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Weekend weather will be fantastic with morning lows in the 30s and 40s and afternoon highs reaching the 60s and 70s. After the current midweek system, our next stronger system may not arrive until the middle of next week. This would be slightly unusual for this current pattern, so we'll be watching for any signals for a developing system as early as next Monday and Tuesday.
Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
