Showers will continue near and south of the metro for the next few hours before exiting southeastern OK around midday. The clouds and chilly weather will remain with highs mostly in the upper 40s and a few lower 50s. A surface ridge of high pressure will build down from the Midwest and Mid-Missouri Valley over the next 2 days and will bring some cold mornings, potentially with a few spots flirting with a light freeze or frost both Thursday morning and Friday morning. This is highly dependent upon clouds clearing enough for temps to drop. At this point, locations east of highway 69 into western Arkansas will have the better opportunity for this scenario. Metro and western section temps should stay into the upper 30s or lower 40s with a very low chance of experiencing a frost or freeze. These conditions will remain for both Thursday and early Friday morning regarding the frost or light freeze potential, mostly north or east.
Northeast surface winds will stick around both today and for most of tomorrow before returning from the south Friday as the pattern once again begins to bring warmer weather into the state this weekend into early next week. Temps Thursday afternoon will reach the mid to upper 50s with Friday into the lower 60s. Weekend highs feature readings in the upper 60s Saturday to lower 70s Sunday with steadily increasing south winds. Warmer weather is expected for a few days early next week before our next strong upper-level system brings a cold front into the area Wednesday evening or Thursday morning with storm chances and another drop in temps for the following weekend.
Thanks for reading the Wednesday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
