As temperatures drop, several pumpkin patches across Green Country are closing for the season.
It's the last week of the Pumpkin Festival at Shepherd's Cross Farm in Claremore. But if you want to make the most of the fall festivities, the farm is selling pumpkins all month long.
Diane Dickinson owns the farm and says this season reminds her to pause and give thanks. She hopes visitors can take a step back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy time with family.
At the farm tucked off East 450 Road in Claremore, you'll find a red barn inviting you to "come as you are." Dickinson says it's an old farmhouse her family restored in 1991.
"Our first celebration was thanking the Lord for what He had given us,” Dickinson said.
Thirty years later, the tradition continues with their annual pumpkin festival. You'll see rows and rows of pumpkins of all shapes, colors, and sizes.
"Our fall focus is one of thanksgiving. We have so much to be thankful for,” Dickinson said.
The farm is open year-round with lots of animals like cattle, donkeys, alpacas, chickens, peacocks, and especially, sheep. In the wool mill, workers make yarn and sell hand-knitted items like socks and mittens.
If you make it during the last few days of the festival, there's a hay maze, yard games, a petting zoo, and wagon rides.
