Sperry Police: Officer Shot Driver In Hand After She Drove Car Into Him

Police say an officer pulled over Makaylah Burton around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and she was arrested for having drugs and a gun.

Police say an officer pulled over Makaylah Burton around 1:30 a.m. Monday morning and she was arrested for having drugs and a gun.

While Burton was in the police car, officers say she got one hand out of the handcuffs and got in her car.

The officer approached Burton's car with his gun drawn and that's when she drove into him. The officer then shot her in the hand.

Officers say Burton led them on a chase that ended near Pine and Peoria.

The injured officer is expected to be okay.
