John 3:16 Mission Passes Out Food For Families In Need

Monday, volunteers wrapped up the first day of passing out Thanksgiving food baskets at John 3:16.  

Josie Nguyen and her son are taking their box of food donations to the car. It’s one less thing for Josie to worry about during a stressful season. 

“It’s getting harder and harder for people to survive since the pandemic. It’s hard on people. Work, live, and then put food on the table," said Nguyen.

That is where John 3:16 Mission and their volunteers are stepping up to help. “Everybody needs help sometimes and I love the community and I love serving others," said Amy Hanle.

Hanle is part of the volunteers who created an assembly line to box up thousands of cans of vegetables, gravy packets, and turkeys. This is the third year she's volunteered for this event and sees firsthand how much it helps. 

“We have a lot of repeat faces. I’m here every week giving food throughout the pantry. So just getting to help all the people who don’t come, but also the people that I’m used to seeing," said Hanle.

Nguyen said she's grateful these donations allow her to cook a holiday meal for her family. 

“It helps out a lot, it helps me out a lot with things. Putting food on the table cause sometimes it’s not easy to get food on the table because these days it’s so hard to get food on the table and you’re lucky if you get food," said Nguyen.
