Tulsa police say a man is in custody following an hours-long standoff at an apartment complex near 43rd and Peoria overnight.

According to police, officers initially received a call about a domestic situation at the complex. Officers arrived on scene at around 7 p.m. on Monday and found a man and woman and their two children, who are one and two years old, inside the apartment.

Police say the woman and the two-year-old child were able to sneak out, but the man kept the one-year-old baby inside with him.

Police asked the man to give them the baby, but the man told them he was feeding it and caring for it and did not want to put the baby in the cold.

The man and baby stayed inside the home while tactical teams got into place and the negotiations team made contact with the man inside.

After almost 12 hours, the man walked outside with the baby and police took him into custody.

Both children have been returned to the woman and police say nobody was hurt, except for a couple of bruises and scratches from the domestic situation that began the standoff.

Police say the man will now face some domestic charges.
