Blustery northwest winds will remain for most of the morning before easing some later this afternoon with highs only in the lower to mid-40s. Wind chill values in the 20s will be common across this morning with upper 30s values through the afternoon. A few clouds will remain, but mostly sunny sky is expected for most of the area. A weak boundary nears northeastern OK Tuesday evening but with little impact. After chilly weather for the first half of the week, once again we’ll be nearing record highs for the 2nd half with many locations reaching the lower to mid-70s Thursday and Friday before our next strong front arrives late Friday night. This will bring a few storms to southeastern OK followed by a return of chilly weather for the weekend.
A mostly zonal flow will be positioned over the plains for the next few days before a stronger western U.S. trough approaches as the flow becomes more from the southwest. At the same time, warmer conditions are expected to overrun the southern plains Thursday and Friday before the strong trough moves across the state Saturday returning our atmosphere to some near or below normal conditions. While we’re tracking a cold front that brings a few storms into the area Friday night, the data has trended more northward with a stronger push of post-frontal precip and colder weather combinations for the weekend. For this update package, we’ll not include any precip mentions past the pre-dawn Saturday morning period and confined these mentions to far southeastern OK.
The weekend brings lows in the 30s and highs in the upper 40s to lower 50s Saturday and the lower to mid-50s Sunday.
Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
