Ten Tulsa neighborhoods will now have new signage to reflect historical or significant features of the neighborhood.

It is all thanks to a grant program through the Working in Neighborhoods (WIN) department.

The City of Tulsa said the signs will ensure anyone who visits the neighborhoods will know when they are entering, and they may learn some significant features about the neighborhood too.

Each neighborhood had to submit an application to the WIN department to qualify for the grant.

Included in the application, the sign's artwork, and the City of Tulsa says the artwork for each sign was created by neighborhood residents.

Joel Hensley with the City of Tulsa said this project is all about giving residents a voice to represent themselves and the neighborhoods they love.

"It came from the community, designed by the community, and implemented for the community. So, it's just great to see that that type of investment just comes full circle,” Hensley.

The neighborhoods that applied for the program and will receive new signs are Dawson Drillers Landing Hoover Jefferson Hills Maple Ridge McClure Park, Skyline Ride Skyline West Sungate Woodland View Park.

Sign installation is a joint effort between neighborhood liaisons, WIN, and Streets and Stormwater. Most of the signs will be in place by the end of the year.
