A new holiday event "Jingle on the Hill" will bring some Christmas Cheer to Tulsa on Saturday at the Chandler Park Community Center.
Chandler Park Naturalist and Historian Kim Watson say the new community center staff wanted to do something for families. They got the idea for “Jingle on the Hill.”
The event includes activities and games that the whole family can enjoy together. Kids can write letters to Santa and meet him and Mrs. Claus.
Reindeer games like bowling with snowmen pins and a snowball fight are set up throughout the gym. Around 17 local craft vendors will be set up for families to do some holiday shopping.
In the craft room, there are several different things kids can create. That includes a beaded star or coaster to give as presents, Christmas trees out of pinecones, and they can decorate a stocking. There's also a station for kids to make an ornament and help decorate Christmas trees.
The crafts are first come first served, but Watson says she hopes people feel a sense of community.
"And some people simply don't have a lot of money to buy gifts, maybe even a Christmas tree. Our crafts are geared to not only be fun, but to actually have some meaning,” Watson said. "What we love to do is be community-minded, but also give a thought to what they might be hoping for this year."
“Jingle on the Hill” will be at the Chandler Park Community Center on Saturday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $1.
