Students in Sand Springs got some first-hand experience of what it's like to be a firefighter.

The Tulsa Fire Department has an internship program that allows students the opportunity to go through the same training as firefighters. On Thursday, the department put its interns through a live burning scenario.

"I just want to get a head start, I've always wanted to be a firefighter since I was little. every time I see a fire truck driving by I'm just like, 'wow that's cool I want to do that," said student Colton Luker.

Interns report to the department's training center 3 days a week for 2-hours a day.
