A special truck is going around Tulsa, providing free, mobile concerts to lift people's spirits for Christmas.

“The Concert Truck" held its first public performance in Tulsa tonight. The traveling artists are wrapping up their fall-winter tour in Tulsa.

The Tulsa Performing Arts Center said “The Concert Truck” is its gift to the community this Christmas season.

It's music on the move.

The Concert Truck based out of Baltimore has been on the road since September traveling from one city to the next. This week is Tulsa's turn, thanks to the PAC.

"We have an incredible working relationship with different agencies in New York and LA and Nashville and that's really what I try to do is try to bring the world's best to Tulsa," said Mark Frye, CEO of Tulsa Performing Arts Center.

Nick Luby and Susan Zhang said the truck was an experiment they started while in school.

"Felt very fortunate to be able to answer that call," said Luby.

"There seemed to be something about the mobility of the truck and just the novelty and the specialness of it," said Zhang.

These artists have continued providing live music to people amid the pandemic.

The Concert Truck is providing eight free, hour-long concerts across Tulsa... two for schools and the remainder for the public.

Judy Mason attended the first of six public performances this evening at LIFE Senior Services.

"I was a music major in college and so when I have the opportunity to hear really good music, I want to take advantage of it," said Mason.

Mason said music is the greatest gift you can give.

"Doesn't make any difference if you speak Spanish if you speak English if you speak French or whatever. Music is a universal language," said Mason.

The concert features classical pieces and several Christmas selections.

"There's very few entertainments these days that you can take your children to and feel comfortable and this is one of them," said Mason.
