A man who was sentenced to 90 days in jail for killing a man on a motorcycle in a car crash, is back in jail after failing five straight drug tests in the past two months.
Hayes Violett pleaded guilty to misdemeanor negligent homicide in May for the crash that killed Bradley Morrison last summer.
Morrison’s family says at the time of the sentencing, they felt they got no justice, and now, they feel like this is a slap in the face. Morrison’s finance, Jayme Six, didn’t like the 90 day sentence, but, she was trying to accept it and move forward, but this, now she’s furious.
After Violett plead guilty, a Rogers County Judge sentenced him to the maximum of a year in jail, but, said Violett only had to serve three months of that and the other nine months on probation.
So, Violett served his 90 days in jail this summer and was required to take drug tests after he got out. The DA says, Violett tested positive for meth on October 25th, October 29th, November 23rd, November 30th, and December 2nd.
"To me how I feel is, what are they waiting on? To kill somebody else’s family member? Before they put him right back in jail. He needs to be prosecuted for the wrong that he's done. He should have to sit in jail and be punished,” said Six.
Violett is back in the Rogers County jail on a 16-thousand dollar bond. A judge will decide whether Violett will have to serve the remaining nine months of his sentence for breaking the rules of his probation.
