On Friday, Tulsa County deputies delivered toys and smiles to families they know could use some extra help this Christmas.
"It really makes me feel like the community cares about us," said Barbara Andre.
Deputies noticed Andre's family walking downtown last year. At that time, Andre told the deputies they were homeless and they didn't know what they would do for Christmas. "When they stopped us I was like uh oh. And they were like we just want to give you these gift cards for Christmas and I was just breaking down," said Andre.
This year, deputies wanted to check in on Andre and see how she's adjusting to her new home and bring some toys with them for the kids. "Just being able to help these families because not everyone, with everything that's going on, can provide for their family. Just because we're able to that's all we really want to do is to be able to help," said Marcus Berry.
Berry said deputies were able to deliver toys and clothes to 16 families in Tulsa County this year.
