A 9-year-old saved his family early Monday morning when he realized their house had caught fire, he says he knew to call 911 because of fire drills he does at school.

The family has lost everything, but the mom says their things can be replaced, but their family cannot.

"I was like what is that, so I run to the bathroom and just see fire in the window," says Cahill Griffin.

9-year-old Cahill Griffin got up early to watch TV Monday and knew something wasn't right when he heard a loud noise and saw smoke out his window.

"I just rushed down the hall to my mom and dad's room and I just screamed mom, dad, the house is on fire," he said.

He says after getting his parents and five-year-old sister up, he knew he needed to call 911 as quick as he could.

The family was able to get out of the house without anyone getting hurt.

He says he learned how to do all of this because of doing fire drills at school.

"I'm very proud, if it wasn't for him, things would have turned out a lot different," his mom Julie Griffin said.

The family has now lost everything, but the clothes they were wearing.

They are now going through the house to see if anything can be saved.

Cahill's mom Julie says she's been overwhelmed with the number of people dropping off food and clothes to help them.

"People you know, but don't ever really know, to know they care enough to give, and volunteer or help to do something, that really means a lot," she said.

She says it's been devastating, especially so close to Christmas. She keeps reminding herself stuff and things can be replaced, and she has the memories of their home.

"When you have your family, and you know that's what matters most, you can get through the hard things," she said.

A donation jar for the family is set up at Mannford Town and Country. You can also drop off items at Phelps or Napa in Mannford. Immediate needs are socks, underwear, coats, toiletries, pajamas and dog food.

Cahill wears a size 10/12 shirt, 12/14 in pants and a size 5 shoe. His sister wears a size 7 shirt and size 1 shoe. Julie wears 8-8.5 in shoes, a medium shirt and large pants. Her Husband wears a 9.5 shoe, an extra-large shirt and 36/34 pants.
