A giant Baby Jesus figurine was put on display in the Iztapalapa suburb of Mexico City on Tuesday in time for Christmas.
Every year, the statue takes pride of place in the main square during the holiday season.
But the tradition was canceled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Members of the Catholic community of Iztapalapa were delighted to see the giant figurine back in their suburb.
At nearly 13 feet and weighing 1,322 pounds, the Baby Jesus statue is one of the largest in the world.
It was crafted by David Gómez Resendiz and members of his family.
This year, the tradition is a poignant reminder of the family's matriarch, who died during the pandemic.
Resendiz said they would celebrate her on 2 February, during the annual ceremony of dressing the Baby Jesus.
Organizers hope more than 10,000 people will be able to visit the statue, health and safety measures permitting.
