Keep an umbrella handy for the first half of our Wednesday as another round of scattered showers moves across eastern Oklahoma.

Showers coming out of north Texas will spread across eastern Oklahoma through the morning hours. Around lunchtime, there will be a very brief window for one or two stronger storms in extreme southeastern Oklahoma before rain chances clear off to the east this afternoon.

Even with some afternoon sunshine returning, it’ll be a cooler Wednesday with 50s for highs across northeastern Oklahoma and lower to mid-60s across southeastern Oklahoma.

Wednesday Rain Zone

Areas of dense fog may be an issue early Thursday morning as temperatures drop down close to the freezing mark across northeastern Oklahoma. But Thursday afternoon is looking nice as a south breeze kicks back in with highs back in the lower 60s. One or two light showers will again be possible Thursday afternoon in far southeastern Oklahoma.

Mild weather will stick with us for the last day of 2021 on Friday, with steady south winds and highs on New Year’s Eve afternoon back in the 60s. If you’re making plans to ring in the new year late Friday night, we are seeing an increasing chance of scattered rain and storms developing as we approach midnight, so be aware. We’ll keep you updated on that!

Big Change For New Year's

Some drastic weather changes arrive just in time to start off 2022. A strong cold front will barrel into eastern Oklahoma early New Year’s Day morning, with temperatures plummeting below freezing during the day Saturday and a stiff north wind. There may be a brief window for rain to change over to light freezing rain Saturday morning north of Tulsa, though at the moment the cold and the wind look to be the bigger story. Of course, we’ll be watching that closely!
