Around the world, it's a tradition to ring in the New Year by lighting up the sky with fireworks.
From watching a big production to lighting them with friends and family, many people will celebrate 2022 with a bang.
With everything from sparklers to poppers, the shelves are stocked at the Big Blast Fireworks Glenpool Superstore.
While fireworks on New Year's Eve are sold on a much smaller scale than on the fourth of July, they're still popular at parties.
Big Blast Fireworks Managing Partner Melissa Torkleson says most shoppers come looking for just one item.
She says safe and fun ideas for kids are sparklers, snap and pops or confetti shooters.
For everyone, she says fountains are a good option since they stay low to the ground or fireworks you only have to light once to put on a show.
Torkleson says if you plan on shooting fireworks, be responsible, read the instructions on the label, and keep a water source nearby.
Another reminder: know where you're shooting and make sure it's legal. Torkleson says if you'll be in city limits, check your local ordinance.
She says she loves helping customers find the perfect fireworks display.
"Just being able to communicate what a firework does and how it functions and see the excitement on their face and they're like, oh that sounds really cool, I love that,” Torkleson said. "I just think it's exciting. I mean you're with your family or with your friends and it gives just a whole new dynamic to your party to shoot off something that's big, beautiful, colorful, and loud to ring in the new year."
Three Big Blast Fireworks locations are open all week.
The hours at the Glenpool and Sand Springs Superstores are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and at the Jenks location from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Each store is open until midnight on New Year's Eve.
