A local nonprofit is working to get first responders and veterans fit for their duties and their lives.
The nonprofit "Fit First Responders" says the goal is to transform the lives of those who serve the community through fitness, nutrition and mindset training.
Monday kicks off the beginning of a 12-week challenge for getting local police, firefighters and paramedics in shape and ready for the challenges of their day.
Since 2015, the group has transformed the lives of over 4,000 first responders and to kick off 2022, it is expanding its program to now serve veterans.
During the program, all the participants will compete to be fit for duty and fit for life.
There will be daily workouts, nutrition guidance, mindset training and organizers say the most important is personal development.
“So many go through life with no purpose. They had a purpose of serving our great county. We’re going to figure out what that purpose is now for the next season of their life, and just part of it, is getting them in the best shape of their life,” said Coach JC, FIT First Responders Founder.
Organizers are inviting all first responders and veterans to join them on the journey.
At the end of the challenge, there will be three winners and organizers said the prizes will be worth the journey.
