Union Public Schools Teacher Dies

A middle school geography teacher at Union Public Schools has died, according to the district.

The district announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday morning that Nicholas Griffith died suddenly over the weekend at the age of 38.

Griffith was a geography teacher who had been teaching at Union for seven years and was named "7th Grade Teacher Of The Year" last fall.

“Nicholas Griffith truly defined what it meant to be ‘ALLin’ as a teacher and a colleague. He always saw the good in even the toughest of situations. His presence will be greatly missed by his U67 family, who loved him dearly," said 6th Grade Class Principal Tammy Ward in the Facebook post.

Currently, it is unclear what led to Griffith's death.

Services for Nicholas Griffith will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 13 at the Coweta Assembly of God.
