Tulsa police are looking for a man who they say hit and killed a man walking in the road near Admiral and Yale.

Tulsa police said a man walking in the middle of the road on Yale was hit and killed by a driver Saturday morning. Now they want to urge other drivers to stay on the scene and pay attention.

“There are lots of cars speeding out and pulling out, and racing up and down the street, this doesn't surprise me," said Lindsay Green.

Lindsay Green lives right next to where the deadly accident happened.

She says this is the third time a pedestrian has been hit and killed in her six years living here.

“It's become a real big problem," said Green. "We don't see kids walking to school. It's really dangerous.”

Tulsa police said a man in his 30s was walking across Yale Saturday morning before sunrise.

“It’s not well lit, it looked like the pedestrian was struck right over the hill where there wasn't visibility," said Lt. Stephen Florea.

Lt. Stephen Florea said a person driving a blue Toyota hit the man and then took off.

“He didn't do anything wrong until he left," said Florea. "He had a responsibility to stop and check for injuries.”

Lt. Florea said of their 69 deadly traffic crashes last year, and nearly half involved people in the road.

“It doesn't matter if you're in the right, if you're dead, you're dead," said Lt. Florea.

Green said she and her neighbors have also lost pets, and they don’t want to see another life lost, so she’s urging people to just slow down.

“God rest their soul," said Green. "I'm hoping that they didn’t feel anything. It’s bad. It's really bad.”
