An Oklahoma family said the past couple of days have been a whirlwind. This week they welcomed home a new baby girl. They describe her as their little blessing, but unexpected.

Megan Stratton said Madison Mae Stratton’s arrival came as a surprise. She didn't even know she was pregnant until the night she went into labor.

“I couldn't really sleep. About 11:30- 11:45, I said this isn't normal like this is too much pain,” Stratton said.

Stratton went to the emergency room at Share Medical Center in Alva. She said she was on birth control and the thought of being pregnant hadn't even crossed her mind.

“Like I didn't feel any movement or anything, but I've been trying to lose weight. What I thought was blotting, you know I've given up gluten, I've given up dairy. Nope it wasn't my diet.

Stratton gave birth soon after getting a room at the hospital, once things settled down, she called her husband Matt.

“I looked into the phone and said how is this possible. We definitely had somebody looking out for us the last nine months,” Matt Stratton said.

The Stratton's said Madison's birth is just an example of God working in mysterious ways.

“Four years ago, we lost our daughter to SIDS(sudden infant death syndrome), so that shook us up obviously. That was out first daughter and then two years later we had our son and he's happy healthy. He's getting ready to be two in March. Then, here comes this little miracle that wasn't planned, but it was in God's plan obviously,” Stratton said.

“Because of the rollercoaster we've been on over the last four to five years we honestly just kind of looked at each other and said this is actually about par for the course for us,” Stratton said.

The family said a nurse told them Madison is the first baby the hospital has delivered in about 10 to 15 years.
