The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is gearing up for the winter weather and is already treating some areas on Wednesday morning.
ODOT has crews watching for and treating slick spots, mainly on bridges and overpasses, but the department expects the workload to continue as widespread freezing continues.
ODOT says crews will service 1,100 lane miles just in Tulsa County alone.
The department says its salt and sand sheds are stocked full and they are ready for any winter weather.
In Tulsa, ODOT has three sheds filled with 6,000 tons of material ready to be used on the roads.
25 trucks will be used to treat the Tulsa metro in the coming days and crews have a plan.
"We're prepared to be out until at least the weekend, we'll have trucks out as long as we need to so we've got all of our salt and sand sheds stocked at capacity and we've also been loading reserve trucks to make sure they're ready to go wherever they are needed," said TJ Gerlach from ODOT.
The department wants to remind drivers to take it slow and give crews proper room to work.
